First Day of School 2011

We started a tradition 3 years ago for Christmas Eve. We have a family dinner, picnic style, on the floor in front of the fire. I don't know about how that will work in California but we will give it a try. Our menu always seems to change but it is always in the same location.

Cameron is not old enough to join us on the floor. MAYBE next year.

Look at that girl on the cell phone. She thinks she is 16 but really she just turned 6 in December.
She is a spunky little thing and we love her so much!
Life just wouldn't be the same without her.

She chose to have her birthday party at Galaxy Golf and Games.
They ate pizza, soda, and cake. They climbed all over the play area.
McKenna invited friends from school and church and a lot of them seemed to know each other in other ways.

I slipped the lion costume on at the last minute because he did not like it around his face. I swooped him up and put him in the wagon because he LOVES that!! After that it was no problem!

The first day of school is always so much fun! They look adorable and are so excited.

Camille started preschool. She goes in the afternoon and so far seems to really like it. How did she get so big?

McKenna is in 1st grade and goes to school all day now. She is still into the dresses and skirts!! So cute! How did she get so big?! We live really close to the school so the girls have been walking with our neighbor.

Kelly started 3rd grade ON her birthday! She is officially 8 now! Her shirt says "Birthday Girl".

So I know these pictures look the same but in the second one Cory looks like he is too cool for me so I told him I had to post both.

A friend of mine let us in on a big secret. Just go to Benihana.com and sign up for their Birthday Club. On the first day of your birthday month they will email you a $30 dollar gift certificate to use during your birthday month. Since we have birthdays 3 days apart we asked if we could use them both together. YES!

We each got the dinner of our choice and a drink and still had 9 dollars left over to spend but we were full. We could have gotten ice cream too!
They came out and sang to us, took 2 pictures, and gave it to us in a little frame.
I highly recommend it!

Great Wolf Lodge

We took a family trip in June to The Great Wolf Lodge. It was almost a 3 hour drive with all of the detours. Cam was tried as you can see and the girls were soooo excited. We just stayed one night but it was enough for them. (We never go anywhere.)

Cameron did not like the water much at that time so he spent most of his time in the stroller while Cory and I took turns riding the slides with the girls.
It was a lot of fun.

Seeing the kids jumping all over the beds when we first got the the room reminded me of being a kid. It was so exciting to go stay in a hotel!

The pictures inside the water slide room did not turn out so well. You get the idea....WE HAD FUN!!!

Last week, Cory took a vacation!!! We did not go anywhere exciting but we did get to hang out with dad a lot.
We took the girls ice skating at The Chiller. It is an indoor ice skating rink. They have hockey games and practices and even ice skating lessons. We thought we would see how they liked it before signing anyone up for lessons.
Camille would not put her feet on the ice. She would cry when we tried. She did get the hang of walking on the rubber ground.

McKenna was scared at first but ended up doing well. She would let go of the wall and hold my hand while we skated around the rink.

Kelly held my hand once but was more comfortable holding onto the wall.
They decided that there did not want to take lessons but we had a good time.

Camille picked a Ladybug cake for her birthday cake. Not Dora, Backyardagins, Wonderpets, Princess etc. She kept telling everyone that she was getting a Ladybug cake.

She also kept saying that she was getting EVERYTHING for her birthday.

Just because...

Cameron has always been a pretty good baby. Ate well, slept through the night at 8 weeks (8pm-7am), and never screamed or cried for no reason.
For the past 3 months he has been either getting teeth or congested and boogery. That would make me a little upset too. Even then he was really not THAT bad.

But let me tell you....this last week he has had no teeth coming in and his ear infections are gone.
He is such a HAPPY boy! He is so good. He army crawls and rolls all over the floor entertaining himself. When I come back into the room he always stops....looks at me.....and gives me a big smile!! We love him so much.

What have we been doing the last few days?????

Out here in Ohio our Halloween is pretty much over. For reasons I am unsure of, they have trick-or-treating night on a night other than the 31st. We had ours last night. Kelly was Barbie, McKenna was a cheerleader, Camille was a Ladybug, and Cameron was Santa.

Once again, Cory carved a great pumpkin! The girls loved the guts!

We started out our trip by flying to California. We had one layover and the kids did great. Here we are in the airport. Camille insisted on carrying her backpack that was almost the same size as her.

We found a "Bear Panda" store at the airport in Atlanta.

We ate and watched the planes during our layover.

Since we found out we were going to be taking a trip to California when Cameron was just a month old, we decided to wait and do his baby blessing there with most of our family.

We celebrated Bompee's birthday.

My oldest sibling turned 40 while we were in town. My mom, 3 sisters, 2 sister-in-laws, and friend spent 2 nights at a beach house to celebrate. 3 babies came along too!

Cory brought the girls down to play at the beach. The had a blast. Cory took them to his old stomping ground, the Arcade.

Cousins; Lukas 6 months, Autumn 1 year, Cameron 3 months. Yes, Cameron is about the size of his 6 months old cousin.

We had dinner with Great Grandma Grams and Papa. Cory's brothers and families were able to come too. This is Kelly with Kyra.

Cameron was pooped out by the end of the trip. He, along with the girls actually did great.
There were many more events that I do not have pictures of. Kelly and McKenna got to go to Disneyland with Mimi and Bompee, went swimming, had sleep overs at Grandma Dorene's and Grandpa Jeff's and we got to eat at ALL of our favorite food spots.

McKenna started Kindergarten today. She cried when I brought her but her teacher said she stopped within minutes and had a great day.

Kelly turned 7 yesterday. She was so excited for her birthday. We went swimming in the morning, went to back to school night in the evening, and she chose to eat her birthday dinner at Der Dutchman. They were so nice and gave her a little mini cake.

Well, it is official. 3 out of our 4 children are thumb suckers. I do not mind because I sucked my thumb until at least 10 years old. I am beginning to think it is hereditary because of my 8 siblings, 2 of us sucked our thumbs (to an old age). We are the only 2 that have children who suck their thumbs.
Kelly and Camille both suck their right thumb and Cameron is sucking his left. I think he will be left handed like his dad.

ObamaCare and me

I have been sitting quietly on the sidelines watching all of this national debate on healthcare. It is time for me to bring some clarity to the table by explaining many of the problems from the perspective of a doctor.

First off, the government has involved very few of us physicians in the healthcare debate. While the American Medical Association has come out in favor of the plan, it is vital to remember that the AMA only represents 17% of the American physician workforce.

I have taken care of Medicaid patients for 35 years while representing the only pediatric ophthalmology group left in Atlanta, Georgia that accepts Medicaid. For example, in the past 6 months I have cared for three young children on Medicaid who had corneal ulcers. This is a potentially blinding situation because if the cornea perforates from the infection, almost surely blindness will occur. In all three cases the antibiotic needed for the eradication of the infection was not on the approved Medicaid list.

Each time I was told to fax Medicaid for the approval forms, which I did. Within 48 hours the form came back to me which was sent in immediately via fax, and I was told that I would have my answer in 10 days. Of course by then each child would have been blind in the eye.

Each time the request came back denied. All three times I personally provided the antibiotic for each patient which was not on the Medicaid approved list. Get the point -- rationing of care.

Over the past 35 years I have cared for over 1000 children born with congenital cataracts. In older children and in adults the vision is rehabilitated with an intraocular lens. In newborns we use contact lenses which are very expensive. It takes Medicaid over one year to approve a contact lens post cataract surgery. By that time a successful anatomical operation is wasted as the child will be close to blind from a lack of focusing for so long a period of time.

Again, extreme rationing. Solution: I have a foundation here in Atlanta supported 100% by private funds which supplies all of these contact lenses for my Medicaid and illegal immigrants children for free. Again, waiting for the government would be disastrous.

Last week I had a lady bring her child to me. They are Americans but live in Sweden, as the father has a job with a big corporation. The child had the onset of double vision 3 months ago and has been unable to function normally because of this. They are people of means but are waiting 8 months to see the ophthalmologist in Sweden. Then if the child needed surgery they would be put on a 6 month waiting list. She called me and I saw her that day. It turned out that the child had accommodative esotropia (crossing of the eyes treated with glasses that correct for farsightedness) and responded to glasses within 4 days, so no surgery was needed. Again, rationing of care.

Last month I operated on a 70 year old lady with double vision present for 3 years. She responded quite nicely to her surgery and now is symptom free. I also operated on a 69 year old judge with vertical double vision. His surgery went very well and now he is happy as a lark. I have been told -- but of course there is no healthcare bill that has been passed yet -- that these 2 people because of their age would have been denied surgery and just told to wear a patch over one eye to alleviate the symptoms of double vision. Obviously cheaper than surgery.

I spent two year in the US Navy during the Viet Nam war and was well treated by the military. There was tremendous rationing of care and we were told specifically what things the military personnel and their dependents could have and which things they could not have. While I was in Viet Nam, my wife Nancy got sick and got essentially no care at the Naval Hospital in Oakland, California. She went home and went to her family's private internist in Beverly Hills. While it was expensive, she received an immediate work up. Again rationing of care.

For those of you who are over 65, this bill in its present form might be lethal for you. People in England over 59 cannot receive stents for their coronary arteries. The government wants to mimic the British plan. For those of you younger, it will still mean restriction of the care that you and your children receive.

While 99% of physicians went into medicine because of the love of medicine and the challenge of helping our fellow man, economics are still important. My rent goes up 2% each year and the salaries of my employees go up 2% each year. Twenty years ago, ophthalmologists were paid $1800 for a cataract surgery and today $500. This is a 73% decrease in our fees. I do not know of many jobs in America that have seen this sort of lowering of fees.

But there is more to the story than just the lower fees. When I came to Atlanta, there was a well known ophthalmologist that charged $2500 for a cataract surgery as he felt the was the best. He had a terrific reputation and in fact I had my mother's bilateral cataracts operated on by him with a wonderful result. She is now 94 and has 20/20 vision in both eyes. People would pay his $2500 fee.

However, then the government came in and said that any doctor that does Medicare work cannot accept more than the going rate ( now $500) or he or she would be severely fined. This put an end to his charging $2500. The government said it was illegal to accept more than the government-allowed rate. What I am driving at is that those of you well off will not be able to go to the head of the line under this new healthcare plan, just because you have money, as no physician will be willing to go against the law to treat you.

I am a pediatric ophthalmologist and trained for 10 years post-college to become a pediatric ophthalmologist (add two years of my service in the Navy and that comes to 12 years).A neurosurgeon spends 14 years post -college, and if he or she has to do the military that would be 16 years. I am not entitled to make what a neurosurgeon makes, but the new plan calls for all physicians to make the same amount of payment. I assure you that medical students will not go into neurosurgery and we will have a tremendous shortage of neurosurgeons. Already, the top neurosurgeon at my hospital who is in good health and only 52 years old has just quit because he can't stand working with the government anymore. Forty-nine percent of children under the age of 16 in the state of Georgia are on Medicaid, so he felt he just could not stand working with the bureaucracy anymore.

We are being lied to about the uninsured. They are getting care. I operate at least 2 illegal immigrants each month who pay me nothing, and the children's hospital at which I operate charges them nothing also.This is true not only on Atlanta, but of every community in America.

The bottom line is that I urge all of you to contact your congresswomen and congressmen and senators to defeat this bill. I promise you that you will not like rationing of your own health.

Furthermore, how can you trust a physician that works under these conditions knowing that he is controlled by the state. I certainly could not trust any doctor that would work under these draconian conditions.

One last thing: with this new healthcare plan there will be a tremendous shortage of physicians. It has been estimated that approximately 5% of the current physician work force will quit under this new system. Also it is estimated that another 5% shortage will occur because of the decreased number of men and women wanting to go into medicine. At the present time the US government has mandated gender equity in admissions to medical schools .That means that for the past 15 years that somewhere between 49 and 51% of each entering class are females. This is true of private schools also, because all private schools receive federal funding.

The average career of a woman in medicine now is only 8-10 years and the average work week for a female in medicine is only 3-4 days. I have now trained 35 fellows in pediatric ophthalmology. Hands down the best was a female that I trained 4 years ago -- she was head and heels above all others I have trained. She now practices only 3 days a week.

Well, I know the baby will not be sleeping in his own room for at least a month but I wanted to get Camille settled in her new little bed. She has been sleeping in it for 3 nights now and has been doing relatively well. Even though she says "scared" and gets out a few times, she eventually falls asleep within an hour and stays all night.
Naps have been good too. We shut the door and she has nobody to talk to so she pretty much goes to sleep. All of the girls are in the same room and it seems to be going ok.

This was our babysitting swap on Saturday night. It was our turn. One family moved away so we just have 7 girls right now. I could not fit the 7th in the picture. This was snack time and Barney! It lasted 30 minutes.

The girls always want to put on their gymnastics suits and play in the living room. Camille is not in gymnastics yet but she puts on McKenna's and copies everything they do.

The sick house!

Since my last post we have been SICK! I don't know who started it but I am hoping McKenna will finish it up. She was already sick with a cold and a small cough but now it is strep throat and Canker Sores. The only thing she will eat are popsicles!! Even those hurt her mouth. Her and I barely slept last night. Here she is today on the couch in pain.

On Christmas Eve we had an elaborate dinner consisting of a rotisserie chicken from Wal-Mart, gravy, corn, and grapes. The girls wanted to start a tradition of eating it on the floor in front of the fire. How could we resist that?
After dinner they were dying to open a present so they each opened one. Our neighbor from church brought us over some home baked cookies.

For Christmas dinner we got together at our house with 2 families from our ward. The Youngs have 3 girls and the Lunts have 2 girls and one boy so there were 8 girls and 1 boy. They had a blast putting on shows and singing for us. We enjoyed a great meal of ham, potatoes, gravy, sweet potatoes, rolls, whipped jello, green bean casserole, and martinelli's.
To finish the night off we had chocolate cream peanut butter pie, key lime cheesecake, lemon bars, and apple pie. I was full!
It was nice to spend the evening with friends and family!

In Kelly's 1st grade class they are studying germs. For the last day before Christmas vacation, they had to come up with an "itis". This would be the reason they would be missing school for 2 weeks. They could choose whatever they wanted. Kelly chose Floweritis. We bought fake flowers and pinned them on her (it was also pajama day). We made a flower headband and used a flower ponytail holder. There are also a few flowers on her face but she said they hurt so she did not want more.
Her symptoms.....whenever she reads or writes, she sprouts 2 more flowers. When she hears the word flower, 4 more grow. She LOVES to read so soon she will be in trouble!
She was so excited for today, isn't she cute!

Hello Kitty Birthday Party

McKenna will turn 4 years old on the 20th. We thought it would be better to have her party earlier than later.
We started off by having a Hello Kitty coloring contest which was won by Brinley. Cory was the judge.

We then moved on to Pin the flower on the Hello Kitty picture!
They were all really close but Emalyn was the closest.

I think the pinata was the favorite. Each child took a turn hitting it, then Cory took it away for a few minutes. McKenna was up again and what do you know????? It broke on the second hit!!

She got great presents. She is into crafts, sweaters, and gumballs and she got some of each!

McKenna's First Day of Gymnastics

We have told McKenna for about a year that she could start gymnastics when she turned 4. That is mainly because of the cost of 2 girls in gymnastics. Well, she will turn 4 in about 2 weeks. The session started on the 2nd so we decided to go ahead and let her start this time. She LOVED it and told us all about the bean bag crab walk, the balance beam and the cartwheel mats. This is her on her 1st day! She picked out her own leotard.

The Most Crooked Tree Ever!

Saturday we went to pick out our tree. We thought we got really lucky to find a cheaper tree ($50) right away that was super big and bushy. It was perfect! Well, something is terribly wrong with the trunk and for the past 2 days we have been trying to get it to stand up straight and just when we think we have it.....it starts to lean. I think we are going to anchor it to the wall. These pictures don't really do it justice and you can't really tell just how much it is leaning.

Saturday night we went with the Bulls to WildLights at the Columbus Zoo. It was freezing! We got there pretty early when it was not TOO crowded. When we left at 7:30 pm, there was a line of cars out of the parking lot a few miles down the road. Talk about beating the rush!!
Camille did not want to keep her mittens on so Cory used them as earmuffs. It was not a long visit but we had fun!

Lipstick

So it has been a long while since I have posted ANYTHING! I thought I should post something new in case people really look at this.
I took these a few weeks ago of Camille getting into McKenna's lipstick. Whenever we go to Target McKenna wants lipstick so we have a bit all over the house. Camile gets into it too. I caught her in the act. Doesn't she look so old?

Our ward had Trick or Treating at the church last Friday night. The girls got to get dressed up in their costumes and get CANDY!
Camille is addicted already.

If you look closely you can see our shingles flying off of our roof. It is actually a bit worse than you can tell on here. See the below pictures of at least 60 shingles on our lawn. All of the trees are bending in half and a few in our neighborhood have fallen down. We are hoping we don't get much rain! So far....NONE!

McKenna's First Day of Preschool

McKenna started preschool today! She will be going 4 days a week for 2.5 hours a day in the afternoon to Hilliard City Preschool.
She will be a "Peer Model" along with about 4 others.
Also in their class will be about 6 students with IEPs, or special needs.
I think this will be a great opportunity for McKenna to interact with all kinds of children.
Of course she picked out her clothes and hair!
She also has lipstick on!

August 24th was Kelly's birthday. For lunch she got to choose her food. She chose everything orange for some reason.

For dinner she chose pork chops and mashed potatoes with gravy.
After dinner we opened some presents from family and a few from us. She had a big friend party last week at her gymnastics place and that was her big present from us.

On the FIRST day of school I always let her choose what she is going to wear and how she wants her hair done. I always think she will say she wants her hair down with a clip in it because that is how she always wants it every other day. NO! Last year she wanted buns on the side. This year she chose one BIG bun in the back. She also picked out this outfit. I think she liked it because it has matching shoes.

Mimi and Bompee

A lot!
Mimi and Bompee came to visit all the way from California and we had so much fun.
First the girls showed Mimi their rooms.

We played in the backyard in the upside down pool. Who knew how much fun that could be!

We went out to eat and had ice cream cake for Cory's birthday!! 30!

We made Mimi and Bompee walk all over the zoo and take pictures with a fake tiger.

Mimi let McKenna take pictures with her camera. She loved it because it is something I don't let her do!

The Last 2 Days

Tuesday morning Kelly woke up sick a little after 6 AM!
She has been laying around for 2 days only to get up and use the bathroom. When daddy got home from work he took her on a little drive for fresh air and ice cream. She decided to save the ice cream for later.
I hope she feels better tomorrow.

McKenna got the same thing later the same day but either did not get it as bad or is handling it better. Tonight she is almost running around like normal.
We ALL have spent almost 2 days in our pajamas!
Camille as escaped it so far. Let's cross our fingers.

Gone Fishin'

The other day our friends across the street took us fishing in a lake just down the road about 5 houses.
Kelly Bull had trout bait and 2 little fishing poles that her kids use. She was kind enough to share them with us. It was their first time fishing and they loved it. Kelly caught 3 fish, McKenna caught 1, and Camille just tried to grab theirs. Daddy helped out while I watched and watched Camille.

Well, we started out our day going to the Hilliard City Parade. The more we watched, the more it rained. We still had a good time and the girls were happy to get candy.

Later in the day we went to some friends house and had a BBQ. The kids played and ate while Camille played and ate DIRT!

Camille started to really like the trampoline.

On to Frank's Park where we set up camp and waited for the fireworks!
The kids did sparklers and smoke bombs!

Black Raspberry Picking

You guessed it.......we picked again. This is one of the reasons why we love Ohio. We get to pick fresh fruit all summer long. Most of the berries you see in the picture will be picked by us next week. They are still red and need to be a DARK purple/black. Red raspberries will not be here until August.
All of the girls had a good time and we get to eat as we pick.
We pulled into the driveway and got in the house about 5 minutes before it rained.
Now I get to freeze some and make a pie with the rest.
I could not decide on what pictures to put on so I put them all.

Anthony-Thomas Candy Company

Since Cory is off this week, I decided we would do lots of things together as a family.
This morning we went to a library show and then headed off to the Anthony -Thomas Candy Company for a tour.

The tour was only about 1/2 an hour and we only got ONE piece of chocolate. Now, those of you who know me know that this was a BIG disappointment. They gave us one of the Buckeyes and they were very good.

Overall the tour was okay. The kids liked being there together and getting the candy but the tour was not too exciting for them. I guess Kelly was more interested than McKenna. After the tour they each picked out candy and so did I. They are pretty good but they still don't compare to See's Candy!

Kelly's Dance Recital

Last Saturday, Kelly had her dance recital. They danced to the song Rockin' Robin. They did a really good job. She was very nervous when we left her before the show but after the show she kept on telling us how fun it was up on stage.

Of course you can't see her well but she is the front one in the first picture and on the far left in the second one. We really need to get a new camera.

Months ago Kelly kept telling us that she just wants to do gymnastics now. We had her finish all of the dance class just so she could be sure and experience the recital and she loved the recital but she still LOVES gymnastics more.
We are now going to a new place that does ONLY gymnastics. She has gone twice and loves it.

McKenna's Tubes

McKenna went to Nationwide Children's Hospital today to get tubes put in her ears. This is her right before we left to go to the hospital.She was in a good mood most of the time. We waited in the room for a while after they took vitals.

McKenna had to change into comfy jammies. She looked so cute and thought it was funny that she had to wear no underwear with the jammies.

So cute!!!

She fell asleep on me after waiting an hour. About 10 minutes after she fell asleep they came to get her so it was then that she became a bit grouchy.
When it was time to leave her, she fussed just a bit and I did not hear any crying all they way down the hall.

When she got back to the room I kept telling her that she went to sleep but she insists that she didn't.
They let her pick a scent to smell while getting the laughing gas and she picked strawberry.
She did so good and has no idea what happened even though I try to tell her.

She got to have an orange popscicle after!

Rain Dance

Tonight was so fun!
As we were starting dinner, there were big storm clouds rolling in very fast. As we finished dinner it started to rain. I suggested going out in the rain to play and Cory was shocked. He says I don't do things like that.

Well........I do!
The girls got their bathing suits on and I changed my clothes.
We played out for a while and ran around the driveway. I LOVE when it pours on you.

Even daddy came out and had fun.

We did not let Camille out so she watched from the front door. She was okay with it.

We did not get any pictures of Kelly in the rain because by the time we thought of the camera she was drying off and did not want to go out again.

It was around 75 degrees so it was kind of warm.
It started thundering and lightening a lot so we would run into the garage.

When we came in we changed into our jammies and had hot chocolate with mini marshmallows.

Strawberry Picking Saturday

Saturday we went strawberry picking at Hann Farm in Grove City.
Of course I forgot the camera so I got a shot of the end product at home.

They taste even better!
We cut up and froze a lot so we can use them all summer for smoothies.
That is something they don't have here in Ohio....

Kelly got a new bathing suit so she had to put it on and McKenna had to put on Kelly's old one.

Cory bought a cheap playstation 2 on Craigslist . It came with games and McKenna was trying it out up in the guest room.

Today was Kelly's Kindergarten graduation.
This is Kelly with her teacher Mrs. Cassell. Mrs. Cassell is retiring this year after 31 years of teaching. Kelly LOVED her!

Poor McKenna

For the past week McKenna has not been feeling too well. She had a fever and a cough for a few days. Two of the nights, she coughed for an hour straight. She took a nap 3 days in a row. You know she did not feel good if she WANTED to nap. She moved the Hello Kitty humidifier right next to her bed so it could "help her feel better".
Today she is doing much better and was much happier than a few days ago.
On Monday we went for an ENT follow-up visit and luckily her ears were not infected but they are still full of fluid. We are going to go ahead and set up an appointment for her to get tubes. We put it off and tried to see if it would clear up on its own but after 5 months it looks pretty much the same.
Wish her luck!
I am not looking forward to the surgery but I KNOW it will help her to feel better in general.

Saturday night was our friend Stoney's birthday party. He lives right across the street and he always lets us play on his swing set because we don't have one. He is a good friend to the girls and they love playing with him.

A firetruck was able to come and visit the party. They let the kids climb up in the truck and "Drive". There must have been at least 20 kids at the party. 11 of them are neighbors and the rest were Stone's cousins.

Kelly and McKenna loved standing on the front of the truck and dancing. Camille had just gone to bed when the truck came. It was close to 8 before it got there.

We had a great time at the party. Thanks Stone for inviting us. Happy 5th birthday!!

New Counter Tops

This is the only picture I can find of the old counters. This is when we look at the house and the fridge was being fixed. I thought I had another one but nope!
We changed our blue laminate counter tops to beautiful granite.

Here are the new tops. They just got done a few hours ago. They look so clean!

I tried to get a close up and with our camera this is the best I could do without making it look REALLY spotty. It mainly looks black from far away but closer up it looks a bit more like this.

Sunday Popsicles, Camille walking, Lakers, and Silly girls

Today was Camille's first day having a popsicle of her own. She has had bites of Kelly's but not her own. She loved it. If you have not found the Magic Mini pops, you need to. They are the perfect size for a small snack and they don't have much time to melt.

This is the best proof I have of Camille walking. Our camera is almost 6 years old and has no video so this is it. It is sort of an action shot!

Kelly is helping her dad out by supporting the Lakers. She wears this for a pajama shirt and loves it. She asks to wear it a lot.

Kelly loves to help Camille and shares everything with her.

McKenna actually woke up HAPPY from a nap last week.

The Friday before Easter we went to the Columbus Zoo. We had not been there for a while and they were having a special Easter day. It was a bit chilly but not too bad.As we were leaving all of the "stuffed" animals came out to say hi. Camille loved them! None of the girls were scared like I thought they would be.

We got to see a tiger, a sun bear, a lion, penguins, Red Pandas, and a few more. There were not many out.

The girls got to paint eggs for the animals and do miniature golfing for a bit.

The Blizzard of 2008

I guess they are calling it the Blizzard of 2008. I know that we for sure got 12 inches. It might be more!
Cory left this morning for Call at the hospital and it had already been snowing since 10 am yesterday morning. It continued to snow all day until around 5 pm tonight.

Larry, a med student staying with us, offered to shovel the drive way. While he was in the process our neighbor, Dave Sullenburger, also a friend from church offered to come by with his snow plow. Thank you so much to both of you.

The girls had fun for a little while but it was real windy and their faces were too cold.

Mommy and Kelly Game Time

Everyday when McKenna takes a nap, Kelly has me play a "couple" of games with her.
One of her new favorite games is Pass the Pigs. It is a game where you roll the dice, or pigs in this case, and get points for the different ways they land. One of the ways they can land causes you to get a "pig out" which means you lose all of your points. We laugh really hard when one of us gets that. It is usually me.

She is the score keeper and loves to give me zeros.
It is a fun game and we take turns winning.

Another favorite of hers is Candy Store or Whatever Store. We started playing at Halloween and she would lay all of the candy out. I would be a costumer and keep coming back until all of the candy was gone.
Then we would switch and she would be the customer.

On this day we played Candy Store with Fudge
Rounds.

She is starting to get upset because McKenna is slowing down on her naps. This means not as much alone game time with mom. I guess our Candy Store will be getting a little bit bigger!

Camille had her 1st birthday yesterday!
We just had a family party. We were not sure what time dad would get home so we did not want to invite others.

She LOVED the cake! She finally takes after mommy in something. She ate the whole piece.

Since she learned how to move the chair out of the way in front of the stairs, we put a small chest in the way. Once again it is keeping her down for now.

Like most 1 year olds, she enjoyed the paper as much as the present. She wasn't sure about what to think. Once they were open she loved them.

She already knows how to put the balls in the mouth of the giraffe.

Camille's Spots

Last week, Camille had a super high fever for 2 days that seemed to never break. After that she woke up from a nap with big red spots on her face, legs, ears, and arms. If you make the picture better you can really see them.

Look how sad she looks. We took her in to the doctor and they said it was probably a virus and would go away in a few days.

They actually did start going away but a few days later she had small bumps ALL over her stomach. Those lasted about 2 days and were gone. It was really weird and I am glad they are gone. Camille is doing great now and is back to the HAPPY baby she always is.

How long have you been together? I have known him since I was 12 I guess, but didn't really talk to each other until I was about 19. He is 3 years younger than me so why would I? haha. We didn't start dating until I was 25. We were married on May 12, 2001 in the Los Angeles Temple.

Who eats more? That is a hard one....I LOVE food and treats. He eats a lot but not a ton. He really loves GOOD food and is a super good cook.

Who said 'I Love You' first? I said I love you first. I just couldn't stand it anymore. I felt like it was testimony meeting and I just HAD to because my heart was beating so hard and fast. I told him he didn't have to say it just because I did. He paused for a moment and then told me he loved me too.

Who is taller? Cory

Who is smarter? Cory is super smart, so is his whole family.

Who does the laundry? I do.

Who does the dishes? We both do. He is such a good helper with everything!

Who sleeps on the right side of the bed? Cory does and always has.

Who pays the bills? I pay everything. I figure it is one less thing for him to worry about. He knows about all of the bills but I pay them.

Who mows the lawn? Cory

Who cooks dinner? I do most of the time. He would like to if he could try new things and had more TIME. He loves it. Whatever he throws together turns out good.

Who drives when you are together? Usually Cory.

Who is more stubborn? I am!

Who kissed who first? You know, I think he kissed me. It felt like a mutual thing but I am sure he did it. We had what I consider our first date, held hands, and kissed all in the same night. I thought I was dreaming.

Who proposed? Cory. I was teaching 1st grade at the time. He showed up at my classroom and started handing out ring pops to all of the kids. I knew right away what was going on so I asked where mine was. He ignored me until he had passed them all out and then pulled the real ring out of his pocket and got on his knee and asked me to marry him with all of the kids standing around. He kissed me and the kids LOVED it!

Who has more siblings? I do...5 brothers, 3 sisters. He has 3 brothers and 2 sisters.

Who wears the pants? I'd say we try to keep it even.

What do you LOVE about your husband?
I have got to have the best husband ever. He is a super DAD and loves his girls SO much.(that includes me) He is such a hard worker and will do anything and everything for his family. I love how much he loves the gospel. Before we started to date, one of the things I loved about him is that he was so funny. He says I don't laugh at his jokes anymore but I still think he is funny. As long as I can remember I have always wanted the best for him because he is a great person and always tries to do what is right. He deserves the best and the girls and I try our best to give it to him. I love you Cory!

Camille will be 1 year old at the end of this month. She was about 1 ounce below 20 pounds when we went to the doctor last week . We also found that she had 2 ear infections. You can see it in her eyes that she does not feel well. This is her in her new car seat. In the past I have always gotten black or blue or brown for big baby items like that in case we ever had a boy. I figured, who cares now! Camille got a pink, flowery car seat . It was the cheapest but really cute.

Kelly and McKenna got big punching balloons with a Christmas gift card. I think Camille loves them more than they do.

Another new trick is climbing up onto this box. This is the box that USED TO have the scissors in it that cut McKenna's hair. They are not in it anymore!

Camille and Leah are EXACTLY the same age. They have the same birthday. We take turns babysitting for each other so that we can have a date with our husbands and not have to pay for a babysitter also.

Today was the 100th day of school. Kelly had so much fun doing 100 stuff today. I can't believe school is more than 1/2 way over this year. Kelly loves school and is becoming a really good reader. I am surprised at how much she can read. She had to put on ALL of her 100th day things for a picture.
